Export volume and value of squid and shrimp from Argentina increased

According to the information from vice-minister of National Fisheries and Aquaculture Ministry, Argentina exported 504,165 tons of fish and shellfish products last year, the volume increased by 17% comparing with that of 2012 (431,668 tons). According to the data from the board of directors of Fishery Economy based on customs statistics, the export revenue of fishery products in 2013 was 1.5018 billion dollars, increased by 13% comparing with that of 2012 (1.3325 billion dollars). Among the total volume of export, squid (Illex argentines) is 133,082 tons, increased by 92% comparing with that of 2012 (69.424 tons). The export volume of Merluccius hubbsi, in second place, was 117,802 tons, increased by 4% comparing with that of last year (112,800 tons). The export volume of Pleoticus muelleri, in third place, was 91,121 tons, increased by 17% comparing with that recorded in 2012 (78,099 tons). The main exporting destination of Argentina aquatic products was Spain, the import volume in 2013 was 100,484 tons, and the import value was 422.5 million dollars, while the import volume was 85,051 tons and the import value was 379.9 million dollars in last year. China ranked second, the import volume was 70,046 tons, and the import value was 140.4 million dollars, while the import volume was 40,718 tons and the import value was 81 million dollars in 2012.
